Andrew Robson publishes a very popular bridge column in the Times.

These are from his weekly  'Common Bidding Mistakes' column

When missing two or more key honours, it is usually best to finesse against the lower one first

Missing odd number of cards rates to split evenly, even number usually splits oddly

If you have to lose a trick in a suit , lose the first round

Making length winners is particularly attractive in Trump contracts

With sequential high cards between the two hands, use the Unblocking Rule

Unblock a suit with only honours as soon as possible

When opponents intervene, if you can make your planned limit bid, do so. If you can't, pass

Fourth Suit Forcing: "We're going to game - more information please"

Do not raise a second suit with 3 cards

Be conservative when rebidding notrumps as responder

Be wary of repeating a moth-eaten six-card suit when partner has bid two other suits. He's likely to be short

The advantages of a 4-4 fit over a 5-3 fit

With fits for both, prefer to support a major suit than a minor.

Supporting bids are non-forcing - even jumps
